Loving it .. The World of Speed .. !!

This hits pretty dog-gone close to home ..

    Here's my story:
One of my hometown Buddy's (Jolly) I grew up with was married to a gear-head chick..
He worked at Boswell's H-D in Nashville and handed me a world of work from their service dept. that they no longer did...
(A lot of the old stuff) Anyway, she had a son from a previous marriage that love drag racing... For about 15 years I been keeping up with his racing career..

Here recently he has hit the Big-Time setting records for the books...

Hold my Beer and watch this...

    Damnnnnnnnnnnn .. !!!!!!!!

Go Joel .... I have a feeling I no longer need to be telling him that no more ...

Jolly passed away a few years ago, me and Joel mom talk just about every day... We be tight ..
Take my 45 and outrun em all ..

Those times for a full body car blow me away, I remember when a rail job getting into 6 second territory was damn fast.

damn thats fast! I got a buddy who is currently building an 06 gto twin turbo lsx. He says its 2000hp and 2500 hundred lbs with him in it. He should be able to get under 5. This is the old car. IRS record setter
Braden Grayless has always loved taking anything he owns and making it go fast, and his 2006 GTO is no exception. His goal for this twin-turbo monster is to run deep into the eights and break the IRS GTO record.

Must be barking some loud licks to have Jimmy Leineweber trying to keep what little hearing that the Barn Job left him....

And the Fella that's wick-ing the throttle is no other than "Grand Daddy Joe Smith" ... Go Joe Go ...
(He dang near did, looked like he was wanting to take it down the strip.)

There's a great old documentary on amazon streaming, free if you're a prime subscriber, called "7 Second Love Affair" about guys racing front engine dragsters. It was made in the 60's. I highly recommend it. If you like anything with a motor it's worth a watch. What these guys used to do is insane. Zoomies just firing nitro fumes and fire directly at their faces. Just wearing an asbestos mask and a 3/4 helmet.

Man thanks, I found it on youtube. That brought back so many memories.

I built a whole lot of models of those rail jobs when I was kid.

When the first rear engine cars came out it just changed everything.

So cool to see those things moving. Being only 30, I did not grow up in that era. The craziest part to me is them just blowing the tires off till about the 1000 foot before they hook up. Cheap clutches for sure.

Also, there are some other cool old docs on amazon if you're looking for more. "Hogslayer" is one about a twin engine norton built by a couple of good old boys. "The Quick And the Dead" is insane also. Its another older doc from the 70s but it's about formula one. Even if it's not your bag, its undeniable how nuts those guys were. It's a little "Mondo Cane" style, you definitely see a few people die.
