Due to issues I was having sucking oil into a valve guide into my rear cylinder I will need to disassembly the top end of my motor. I've decided to document this work as I do with my Yamahas'. Furthermore, I have a tick in the front from an unknown clearance issue that I have the opportunity to address so I can also repair that

Final Gear installed on bearing
Parts laid out
and shaft
partial install for snapring
Further install to race end, tape added for protection
Top arbor for race press special setup
Bottom support is 3 VW Type 1 engine main bearings taped together

I threw the bearing in the freezer for an hour as I staged the press. When I got ready to go, on the first push the bearing fell into the race. Closer investigation showed that this race had seen a degree of bearing spin in its day. Rather than replace it for 50$, I just peened it randomly to bring in the ID for the bearing and lightly coated it with red LT before pressing. A standard repair.Comment
