All the tools you need are covered in your Harley manual..... Plus it will tell you what you need and how to do it... -
Required? Not many. But some are nice to have...
You can make the pulley nut socket and there are threads on all the Harley forums on how to.
Once the primary is off...
Pulley nut socket and a 1/2" impact
Big ass snap ring pliers
Long skinny clip spreader pliers
Big pulllers and driver's for the main drive gear and bearing. (Can just use big sockets and a long ass bolt/nut/washers combo).
Dead blow hammer
Freezer and a heat gun. Or propane torch.
Puller and drivers for the trap door bearings and shafts.
(The Jim's kit and a press are more than useful here)
Did someone mention the factory manual?Comment

I grind the end chamfer off my comp nut and pulley nut sockets for full engagement with the nut. Otherwise the chamfer (which is for centering broaches in production and nothing else) reduces socket contact with the nut flats by at least a third.
Ronnie's online parts breakdowns are useful too. I screencap any info I want to save or print.Last edited by farmall; 12-19-2018, 11:57 AM.Comment
