    Amen savior cb450 frame

I have a Amen savior cb450 frame. I was wondering what other motors I can put in. The cb 450 in it is half toasted with a bad clutch. Can't find much info on swaps other then it will take a cb350, 450, and 500 twins. I can't afford the 1500 it will take to rebuild that motor.

I bought a 450 Honda Amen Savior frame at a swap meet in Vancouver because I had already measured a stock 450 frame to fit a Triumph 650 unit-construction engine - it fit.

Since those aftermarket frames typically have more room, probably a Yamaha XS 650 twin would fit, maybe even a Kawasaki 750 twin (around 1977). Even a modern twin could fit...Rebel?...just a matter of measuring, researching and making new engine mounts.

Take a look online at factory manuals as you should be able to find frame specs - measurements of engine mounts.

Can you post a couple of good side pics of the engine/frame area?

oh,...and that rear fender can be lowered about 2" - those plungers don't move that much...

    Have you seen this site?

You can put in new clutch plates in 30 minutes.
Why not rebuild that CB450 award winning engine?
Any other engine will have issues too on these 40 year old bikes.

Again I can't afford the 1,500 to rebuild. Right cylinder has 0 compression left cylinder has 160 of 195 psi. Not to mention it leaks a ton of oil.

My suggestion is to just put it on the back burners until you can save up some money.... No matter what you do it's going to cost you something that you don't have right now....

          What's the hurry?

Might find something here for your machine, or meet someone who knows of parts:

I'm always looking for other options. Never hurts to ask. I'll check out the swap meet. Thank you.

What are those measurements between front and back (and bottom) engine mounts?

One thing to consider, which can open up more options for engine swaps, is relocating the frame post behind the engine - I believe the 450 frame has one upright in the middle of the frame behind the engine....look at the Honda 750, or Kaw 900 Amen frames; they have an upright frame section on each side, instead of in the middle, at the back of the engine.
Sticking with a twin will keep it simpler for chain alignment.

                See some pics here:

                      What year is that engine?
                      Did you build the chop?
                      Did you ride it?

In pic #1, I see no top engine mount on the frame and a good looking upper rear engine mount. I also see no dust cap on the top springer post for the frame and not alot of space between the frame and the upper and lower springer trees; Not much of a top nut or crown nut on the springer neck post.

In pic #2, there are two round lower frame 'lugs', but only one bolt for the bottom engine mount. The lower frame tube under the battery is flattened - do you know if that was made that way?

Pic #3 shows no rear lower engine mount for the frame and what appears to be just an empty engine mounting hole with no bolt for that.

In pic #4, is that a frame cross tube below the front of the engine? Are there two engine mounting bolts in the front?

Would be a great bike for someone who knows their way around a bike. I have the carb removed for cleaning but haven't had time to put it back together, engine is not seized.
Has key. No title but can provide notarized bill of sale and clean vin report. Thanks.
