I’m home from work today so here’s some pictures of the neck.

Other than the weird fork stop neck thing, looks ok I suppose.

Bottom line, what I’ll do is figure out what springer length I want, then rock it as is. If it sucks, out come the frame jig and welder.

What are your thoughts? 12 over? 14? 16"

Dude, that’s killer! I feel like even at 12” I’d want to bring the trail back some anyway with rockers. What length is this picture?

I was thinking 16 over with some rockers like this:

I don’t math good, but will the software tell you length between the axle hole and first arm hole on the rocker? Edit: I guess that depends solely on the design of the rocker, they ain’t all just a straight line. Duh.

oh i gotcha. yea that rocker design definitely makes use of longer legs. Here's what that dagger rocker will look like with a 16 over springer. Trail is right at 7.5" which is great too.

I have zero experience with this shape rocker... but here's what's in the CAD file now...

Then again, I’m used to apes.
I hate those stock buckhorns too.

Place your hands in the range apes would cover to see what sort of apes you would prefer and you'll get a better idea.

I’m converting to a belt drive and want to cut the primary cases open while retaining the stock starter/trans. Any issues with cutting the inner/outer primary covers like this? Obviously I’d retain the trans bearing and support for the starter bearing. Are there issues with the trans and engine being seperated? Like belt alignment and whatnot?

What trans are you running?? What trans mounting bolts does your trans have? It makes a difference...

You should have any problems cutting your primary like that...

It’s the stock shovel 5 speed. (FXRT)

Started tearing into things. The dual tanks meant there was a big unwieldy mounting bracket welded onto the frame. That had to go to make room for the peanut tank. Got all the wiring off the bike, cut the bracket off and ground down the backbone.

Took the oil tank and lines off too, it had some fake AN lines that I hated, so I'll route some regular rubber lines unless I think of a more creative solution.

For comparison..... Here's a snapshot of my '59 panshovel. Frame is a Paughco 40 DEGREE rake.
Front end is 12" OVER. Front of bike sits slightly higher than the rear.

If Your frame has 46 degree rake, I think a 16" over fork would sit similar to
my 40 degree Paughco, or maybe even a bit higher in front. I would not go 12"Click image for larger version

                                * front wheel is a 19" and it looks like Your bike is also running a 19" on front.
