bit more of a detailed shot of the brake duct I made. The bike came with one but it was in bad shape and always looked the wrong angle to the road and incoming air, so I tweaked the design to suit what I though would look a bit more please to the eye. Best bit for me fabricating parts.

If anyone is interested I have a build thread on the sportster section with some of my other fabrication works.

Thanks for all the positive comments much appreciated

So in the background the engine was rebuilt, turned out it had some really nice parts and race type modifications. The main reason to rebuild was lots of smoke....turned out that include in the race parts was a 2 ring piston without an oil control ring. Took to time while it was apart to treat it to a new Manx forged piston and raising the compression ratio, also picked up a period GP2 Amal carb.
I will post some pic of the internals next post.

Interesting cylinder liner. That's one way to protect head gaskets.

                Hi Farmall

That ring is the cylinder liner this forms a seal within the cylinder head recess.

In between assembly I wanted to make my own exhaust, I wont call it a silencer as it has nothing inside...this started as a flat sheet of Ali and I sued a Dutch bend to joint the long sides together this was just tacked top and bottom before the cone end was welded in place, I have left this weld a bit large deliberately as I thought it would look a bit more period, the next job is the make a joiner which will be a turned Ali tube to mate to the steel exhaust pipe - more to follow

Back to the main project build and dolls head gearbox mounted and SS brake rod installed to the modified brake pedal, the Norton pedals with foot plates at the end. The clutch with added lightness.

                            Thanks Pan620

Working on the rear end - made new mudguard stays and new Ali mudguard in gloss black and had the seat recovered in leather.

Tank back from being painted, origonal water slide Norton transfers which are under the clear laquer, teh oil tank has also has the same paint finish. The jury is out on if i should get the Norton pinstriping done with black and red key line or just leave alone - any thoughts ?
