    Default Winter projects

It's getting colder and time to think about winter projects! What do y'all have planned to keep you busy during the winter months? I just got a set of thunderstorm heads for my sporty trike. I rebuilt the top end not too long ago with the hammer 1250 kit but it still has the stock 883 heads that had a diy port job, stock cams and a thunderheader. It runs good but ya know I can't leave shit alone! So I'm gonna put those heads on and I'm thinking some hammer impact cams. I also have some taller bars to put on and the paint is peeling on my swingarm so that's gonna come off and get powder coated. I have some other small pieces I'm gonna bead blast and powder here at home. I have a dna rearend with the dana diff in it on my trike and they don't have reverse so I'm engineering a reverse system that I hope to have finished by spring. Let's here about your projects.Click image for larger version.

I do kind of miss winter projects, but I live in Vegas in the desert, so my "winter projects" consist of riding.

This was last years winter project, 7' Apache, twin engines, counter rotating, 5.5 hp @ 17000 rpm. three blade props. can't never have too many toys..right? this year I'm going to scab together a sidecar for the diesel bike, it's not winning any races so I might as well, just started hunting for the right tub.

I'm just gonna continue with my autumn project.. It's a 1988 Sporty that was completely butchered by the PO.
Had to throw some new jugs on her and went for a S&S 1200 conversion.
Been wanting to do a stock-ish Sportster with some subtle mods and longer front end for a long time.
Was hunting a rear mag for a looooong time and finally scored one at a swap meet in August.
It still needs a rewire, new tires, plumbing for the oil cooler and I need to move the tank back because the Wide Glide trees are hitting it.
That's what I plan to do this winter. Paint was on the list, but meh, I dunno.

    Let's see:

Touch up front fender where this asshole dropped a hogging bit on it, ya that be me
Find a pair of handlebars I like
Rewire the bike, I am not happy with the way a few things I did turned out and need to correct them
    Find a cool azz headlight
Try to make the Toys For Tots run.
Research houses in Prescott & Flagstaff, AZ; Boulder City, NV; and Grand Junction, CO as well as look around New Mexico

That should keep me busy for a while.

Well... I finally started working on a build earlier this year that I had planned and started accumulating parts for back in 1999. Nothing like rushing a project, heh.
Anyway, I submit to you, the biggest minibike in the world:

Hey DB, in your first post you mentioned, " Front end appears to be an early FXR ( maybe Sportster ) with 35mm Kayaba tubes and a single disk"; since you unfortunately have some time on your hands, whatta ya think about throwin' on a springer? Could still run the same front wheel with disc brake and fender...here is a link to a springer install on a rigid Panhead for you to chew on:

    2018 Thread: Pan upgrade...
"Rayne's pan is moving into its third reincarnation.(Resurrection?) First time round was a reasonably wide tyred, DNA springered chopper with nothing too extreme. Second time it got a new frame to suit a standard 16x5 rear tyre with a very high sissy bar narrow glide front end and everything very narrow and tall....the time has come for major changes for a third time. First up is a Meatballs 4" over springer and three degree raked headstem bearing cups..."
