and yup, heard green bikes are bad luck - is this folklore?

    Motorcycle Superstitions

    "Green Motorcycles
Supposedly, a green painted motorcycle is bad luck. The legend has it that the Harleys used in World War II were often sitting duck targets, and many military riders got their butts blasted off them. And since they were painted Army green, it eventually translated into modern folklore.

This one might actually be true. I know a guy who had a green Road Glide, and dropped it several times, one time injuring his leg. Then he got the bike repainted, with a different shade of green, and wiped out on it again. From what I could recall, when his bike still had the factory black, he never crashed it."

    dropped it several times
Perhaps the paint emitted tardtrons which affected his riding ability. I've no yellow bikes currently but ran yellow and black for decades on my FXR with zero crashes. I'll likely coat it yellow next year.

HDs in WWII got the shit shot out of them like everything else. If a motorcycle is a sitting duck that's operator error. Ride or conceal it. They were much smaller than other vehicles therefore harder to hit. Green vehicles won the war.

As long as I can remember, I've heard green bikes are bad luck. Then came the craze that began in the late 80's thru mid-2000's, I've seen lots of green bikes during that time. Bad luck? I don't know, but I'll never own a green bike. Green guitars are cool, I own a couple, but no green bikes for me.

I picked up a project Rokon a few years ago! Haven't had time to really do anything with it tho... It has one of those cheap Lifeson 110cc engines fitted in. I'm thinking when I finish it, I'll either go black or maybe camo.

I have first-hand experience with the green bike thing. It was a Yamaha FZR600, white when I got it. First I painted it black and rode for months without issues. Painted it olive green and broke two intake manifolds on the first ride. Got those fixed, started having more carb problems. Rebuilt them, took it out and it died after about 150 miles. Never fired back up. Engine was done for. More probable cause for it exploding the engine was the supercharger on it, but hey, it was a green bike and it died not long after I painted it.

This is kinds of where I got it from, also was watching a biker build off with Arlene and Roland, and there was a comment something like "Arlene committed two sins, its yellow" & can't remember the second sin.

    Roland's bike

Ahhh, you may want to do some reading on the short comings of US WWII Tanks, German Panzers chewed many up. Recently, in the past 10 years was the incident of a failed breech of a WWII tank hunter. We out produced, rather than out gunned the German army.
