    93 fxr convertible build

I picked this up about a month ago from a kid in PA. It belonged to his uncle who recently passed. Bikes in overall good shape, but was old guyed out lol. It had the standard leather tassels, hypercharger, drag pipes and lowered suspension. The good news is it's got some motor work, v3 cam, pistons etc and it runs perfect. The plan is to take it down to the frame, repowder, chain conversion, nine spokes, ohlins. Im going to keep the tins in tact but probably have them recleared. The motor looks bad, needs paint/powder. I'm considering selling off the 80 and putting in a 111 but we'll see how it goes.

Nice machine. I like your plan. Those drag pipes cost power so I'd either ditch them for a stock crossover (the only good breathing solution that sounds like a Harley) or (overpriced unless used) 2 into 1. When testing pipes I tried "goose" style and conventional drag pipes. I had to jet leaner vs. the crossover and power was down so I put the stock headpipes with gutted mufflers (hydraulic press gets the welch plug style baffle out cleanly) back on and ran those until a few years ago.

I have a Bassani Road Rage on my FXLR and Thunderheader on my FXR. The Bassani has a much better mount. I made a non-shit mount for the Thunderheader but shouldn't have needed to. They may have improved it since.

my buddy just replaced his thunderheader with a whole different exhaust because it kept breaking. I dont think they have improved them.

I've actually ordered about 7k worth of parts for this build, the road rage being one of them. Also going racetechs w emulators, speed merchant preloaders, custom sprung ohlins, pm calipers. I did a bearing swingarm conversion, and all new braking parts. I still have a ways to go

              Sweet parts list.

You'll like the Bassani. It tucks in well too.

The mongtarded rear mount kills Thunderheaders. I never used it and made my own because the stock part was the most clueless use of a perfectly good Barrymount I've ever seen. I'll take pics when I swap motors and have it off again. It uses the transmission case bolts (like bagger mounts where I got the idea) and you could lift the bike by it.
