And so the ongoing saga continues .....

    The latest dilemma ...
New primary came in bare... No starter jack-shaft bearing and no dowel pin..
Installed a new dowel pin and was in the mode of doing a fit .... WTF .. !!!

Ok ... A small problem jumps up, the inner Cal-Products primary was bought used..
It seems that a set screw was installed into the dowel pin hole ....
It was too small of a hole for the dowel pin to fit into ...

No Biggie I thought, just remove it, Well Sir, it said I'm not going anywhere...
Didn't want to use heat cause it could mess up the fresh chrome job, so now what to do... ???

I know, just open up the hole some ...

Let's see what a cobalt drill bit will do ... ???

    What's harder than cobalt .. ???

Couple of things about this thread.

    1) I'm very glad I only have kickstart bikes.

    2) very glad I have open belt bikes

    3) there has been a lot of back and forth and a wealth of knowledge being shared by capable individuals without a shred of ego.

    4) So much better than that stupid , never dying , rotted corpse lifeless walking dead Donald Trump thread in the junk pile.

    Let it go.
Less Donald Trump and more sharing of useful knowledge to keep 2 wheels up and running regardless of style. Overcoming mechanical hurdles together to make everyone's life easier.
Knowledge is power , mind bending bullshit about things way out of our sphere of influence is well....just that...
    Bullshit.

    Well Guys ....

Today I got this bike to run...

In the below video is a cold start ... No fuel to the carb just yet, wanted to see how well the stater system was working...
Installed a fresh "Big Boar Battery" and up-graded the battery cables to more of my liking .... I make them up in house ...

Dang motor spun over like there was no plugs in it...But they are and it's got big time compression ... !!!
    ___________________________________________

Man, that spins over way too easy ...
Going to do a compression check just to see that "Big Time" compression...

    Numbers in a short ...
    ______________________________________________

    Results are:
    Front = 130 psi
    Rear = 115 psi

Well Doggies .... Guess that 520 CCA Battery and triple gear 2kw Tech Starter is doing a "Grand-Slam" job .... !!!!
(1,000 strand Batt Cables might have a wee bit to do with it too)
    ______________________________________________

It's running, but not all that well....

Seems that this bike has seen some long term sitting ...
As soon as I turned on the fuel valve, gas was running out the overflow hose...
Pulled off the carb bowl and got the needle and seat cleaned up enough to work ...

The acc. pump had a nice dribble with ya jacked the throttle...
Tried to clean out the discharge tube in order to see a fan pattern on the spray..
Got a little better dribble going on now, looks like a carb rebuild is in the picture..

Rubber takes a licking when the bike sits for a long, long time ....

Owner picked it up today .... Running real good and starts up even better....

Took a bit of unforeseen work to pull that off...
The intake seals was way past of being toast..

Dragstews I was at the indy shop I work at part time and hang out at. No work now so I showed up to buy the owner/friend a burger and frys just cause. I told him all the work you went thru on this project including where you started when you said it had 3 washers on the starter drive. He brought up something that never occured to me he said, "you know that guy didn't make any money on that job". Bummer. We all like the rush you feel when it first fires up ,and the satisfaction when you figure out something that was a big headache, but that don't pay the bills.

Unfortunately you gotta have some of those low or unpaid learning experiences to be the best around!
