I'd go with a 1250 or 1275 kit and port from hammer performance when you put it back together.

I'd go with "IF" the budget allows ....
S&S Sidewinder Kits for 89” Evolution Sportster
200 kph with an Evo-Sportster? No problem with this power package by S&S.
Our Sidewinder kits are as complete as our Big Twin kits.
Each part which is necessary for installation is supplied (except tools).
As with all Big Bore kits the engine cases must be machined to accept the larger bore cylinders.
Sidewinder kits for Evo-XL also require the combustion chamber to be enlarged making the compression ratio completely dependent on the engine builder. We do not recommend compression ratios above 10:1 for street bikes.
Each kit contains:
11 mm longer 3 5/8” cylinder with forged pistons
complete trued and balanced flywheels
motor mount
manifold
pushrods
all gaskets and hardware
Up from 55 cubes to 89 cubes ... That will pack the mail .... !!!
And to be Bad Boy on the block is ....
89XLSS HOT SET UP
for Evolution Sportsters
89 Inch Super Stock/Sidewinder/Stroker Kit
This Hot Set Up with our Super Stock heads. S&S has designed and manufactured the largest practical motor that will fit into the stock Sportster chassis with only minor modifications. These kits are for the serious street performance and competition rider. Our Hot Set Up 89 has gained a hard-earned reputation as the "Giant Killer".
Flywheels are balanced and assembled for easy installation. Hot Set Up includes top-end gaskets and necessary hardware. Sportsters 1991 - up require conversion to the 1986-'90 style pushrod cover assemblies. The 89XLSS is available in both 9.5:1 and 12.4:1 compression ratios.
Both of those Kits will take care of your flywheel problems...Last edited by Dragstews; 08-18-2018, 1:33 PM.Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment

thanks for the input guys I'm defiantly considering going a lil bigger.
Few questions. here are closer pics of where the camchest bushings. Could i just replace and ream with new ones?
Do the bronze bushings wear out before they cause actual damage to the camchest?
Whats stock measurement of the camchest bushings.
Cam 1 bushing which is still in the case actually seems to be in good condition. is nun and 0 wear marks
Cam 2 bushing was stuck onto cam
Cam 3 bushing spun freely and has a lot of wear over inside the hole.(Im guessing this was the main source of the noise )
Cam 4 bushing also stuck onto cam.
Also placed the dial indicator closer to the center and it didn't move at all so thats looking good so far major relief that crank is most likely straight. thanks for that tip .
Here are some close up pics.

But, due to bad experiences in the past, I no longer let my tools go out of the shop..
Really Sorry bout that company policy ...

My budget is small unfortunately would the best option be to find another bottom end? IF i stick with this one, and can get away with new bushings and cams ill stick with it. I found a bottom end for 600 with crank and bushings intact.Comment

Here are some options my budget allows.
Buy a complete bottom end and transfer all parts over.
Buy a new right side case.
Buy a New motor.Comment

Now that's a good idea with finding another case....
Give OL Curt a call at SPORTY SPECIALTIES (714-879-0500) and see what he's got laying around...
His shop is not that far from you ..
Much luck with your quest ...Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment

But with the later models, Harley was pretty good at keeping a standard with their machining ....
Might get lucky with having a plug & play deal...Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment

If you can get a good bottom end or engine I'd do that. Numbers don't matter, it ain't collectible.
Run the cost numbers for different options. Dropping in a good engine (from a reputable seller) is fast and route of least hassle. Next best is a complete bottom end, but those beg the question of why the engine was apart in the first place.Comment

Yeah i was planning on using it as a commuter nothing special. I’m working with some sellers. I have a decent deal on a bottom end.
Correct me if I’m wrong but 883 and 1200 use the same bottom end correct? I want to get this thing on the road by next weekend so hopefully I’ll find somethingComment

For the bottom end I’m asking very specific questions. And that’s very true why would someone tear something all the way down. Hopefully that’s just his way of making cash by parting everything he can and it’s nothing sketchy or there’s wrong with the motor.Comment
