Hey!
Looking into brake options (down the line, not in a rush...).

Saw an oem drum with the little arm thingy (I'm super technical) for $400. Is juice a thing?
Anyway, this is just a keep my eye open kinda thing, wondering if anyone has advice one way or another, or what you guys have on yours.
Thinking I prefer stock rather than new fancy stuff for the overall look of the bike. Nothing to do with price, really, considering old oem stuff costs just as much or more than replica.

I'd keep what ya got if it was me .... That's a huge floating rotor ... No drum brake would come close to the stopping power that's got ...

But that's for coming down from 200 mph ...



The Harley juice brake in a hardtail does have a much better look to it ...
Wouldn't ya say ... ??

Yes! Looks way better. Also I'm looking for something to help coming down from around 23mph. Will that juice brake work for that? Haha!
Is $400 a good price? I'd like to have something original. I think...

I don't have a picture! Should have taken one. It's the pie tin thing (both the inside part and the lid cover thing with the arm and the brakepads inside... he said i'd need a star hub for it.

Think your talking about the 38 -57 brake ... That may require a world of work to install being your frame don' have the cross-over shaft ..

The juice brake from the 58 and up might be your best choice ..

Somewhere in the mid 60's Harley went to a bigger brake ..
More sweep area than the early juice drum had ... That ran up to 1972 ...

Wanting to build a ride from scratch and fabricate several accessories. So curious if anyone has any ideas of how to fabricate blinker housings? I've seen several videos about the lens covers but haven't been able to find anything on the housings. Also wanting to use LEDS instead of bulbs.

You need to start your own thread, this one is about something else.
But I'm sure someone can tell you where to get the fluid for them, custom blinkers take a special kind.

That floating rotor setup was nicely done so I'd save the pic of it installed then pull all the brake parts off, clean them up and sell to add to yer parts money.

If it were up to me my first choice would be the set up you got on there now. Looks to be well done. Second choice would be a juice set up. Last is mechanical. They can be a pain in the ass. Bottom line is as long as you can get the wheel to lock up when braking you are good . A mechanical will even do that when set up right, just requires a bit more foot pressure than the juice or disc type.

If I'm changing the wheel I'm taking it all off anyway... I would prefer something better looking, but now I'm not sure if I should just keep it to put on a spoke wheel or go on the hunt for a new 58 etc juice brake. I wonder if it won't look too hokey on this bike once it's looking prettier ♡
Does anyone know what the one I have is? I know it's Performance Machine but that's all.

How bout something super trick to please the eyeball ..



The ultimate chopper and bobber rear wheel custom brake hails from Italy and this item looks so good it almost hurts. A completely cleaned-up backing plate with concentric structure makes stock brakes look like crude and clustered chunks of iron. The brake drum proper features radial cooling fins which perfectly complement the overall appearance. By construction this is an hydraulic type drum brake which means you will have to purchase a foot control master cylinder plus brake line. Included with each Kustom Tech brake is a nicely machined anchor rod which requires a tab to be welded to your frame.

A stock rigid frame will accept this brake only when used with the manufacturer's special hub. Stock hubs will require further changes to frame, spokes, rim, wheel spacing etc.

Might start looking for Pop Bottles, cause that puppy ain't cheap ...
