its "eccentric" british engineering... they have a dirty great big u-bolt that goes round the crank and up through the cases/barrel and head, nuts on top.. it works though as long as you arent tempted by nice clean shiny stainless u-bolts that stretch...

i have no idea what it will sound like as a twin, but yea - thats what a big single sounds like, im idling my testbed bike a little higher with the lighter flywheel though
just incase you havent seen my other panther threads
this bike was built ot house the test motor, and is getting the hell thrashed out of it - runs like a champ at the minute with no signs of giving in just yet... will strip motor back down sometime soon and make sure that everything is as it should be still...

Hey Sumo what firing order are you gonna use?
If you make this into a Big Bang double single, you will be my forever hero. I'll put up a picture in my room of you in a speedo on the beech and look at you every morning.

so i got my primary connection dealt with this weekend..[for a second time] its been kinda half done for ages now after the weekend of doom a month or 3 back when it all went tits up.
so i closed the motors together by few of mm. that way im not relying on my measurements and the belt not stretching - ill have an idler pulley now in the middle bottom run. plus a few fairly inconsequential tweaks that i will notice but dont really matter.
was a 1 hit job so ive been avoiding it. get it wrong, start primary plate again... but turned out not too bad after ive been making excuses not to do it. bit of turning, hammering, welding and grinding and im happy. essentially 2 of the bolts that hold the crank halfs of each engine together also clamp the primary connection to the motors through the dural plates - making everything stiffer.

steady away, still plenty to do but on course to having this motor into the black bike at the weekend with a little luck and a fair breeze.
Man, I guess it helps that those engines were built Hell for Stout

Sumo, that creation looks so sexy that if I came home drunk some night and it was in my garage, I'd be tempted to do something unnatural with it. No offence meant.

things are moving onwards, albeit slowly
i have lost my job recently so its not progressing at speed but its getting there
converted a pair of mags to electronic ignition [thorspark units]
started to make some semblance of comfort
and the big thing: got the drivetrain buttoned up, just need to make a correct size idler pulley and im golden follows the most boring youtube vid in the world but it means a lot to me on this build :-D...

Turning the primary is not boring . That is a big deal to get to work . Most guys just don't understand the time it takes to make a primary so that it tracks striaght .
Looks great are you planning for this years or next to run it ?

cheers fella - yea - tough making 1 engine track, mind fuck making 2 track. would have been easier with chains to have a modicum of leaway in allignment but the belt will be a better solution when its actualy running i think
as for when - theres an event over here at pendine sands this summer - kinda tight on both time and cash to compete
but im selling off loads of stuff so who knows - i might get the cash together to run in the UK this year, if not ill sprint / drag race it to work out the bugs anyways.
