68' Ironhead....70s chopper gold brought back to life

Guy i know had this 68 in his garage, he needed money and i needed something to build. Thats how i got it. Everything was in pieces. Bottom end of motor was together but heads, cyclinders, psitons etc. was in boxes haha

Built the motor back to stock form, its a 68 xlh xo it came with electric start and no kicker. I left the electric start but added a kicker, changed the Bendix out for a CV i had, going to fab up some pipes out of left over pipes in my shop. But thats the extent of the motor. Just going to be reliable

Frame- Paughco s120 0 out 0 up 30 degree neck. I heard some bad things about them but mine is a really nice, especially for $500, cant beat that price

i left the 33.4mm front end but used a early fx lower tree to adapt to the 1" neck of the paugcho

    21" in front, no brake, 300 x 21 firestone
    18" rear, mechanical brake 350 x 18 irc gs-11

    5" headlight

    homemade lanesplitter bars

    things to do next:

    mount rear fender
    make sissy bar
    wassel 1.8 tank
fab some high rise mid controls
    fab seat pan
    paint
fabbing up an old knucklehead oil tank to fit this frame

Ignore the tank as ill be running something diffrent

So if you cut the battery tray out of a panhead oil tank it fits the frame, clears the electric start and even leaves a little room to work underneath. PROBLEMMMM which didnt occur to me until i mocked everything up. The chain doesnt clear. So now do i chop the bottom of the tank to make it fit orrrrrrrrrr start over with plan B?

Decide to not shorten the panhead oil tank i had, instead i got lucky and was able to pick up a paugcho oil bag for the s120 frame that a friend of mine had for dirt cheap, i also snagged a really cool 4inch wide (really narrow, but is going to look nice on the 3.50 rear) ribbed fender.

Im going to get more pics up as well, as soon as i get to a point where it makes progress. I feel like ive been colecting parts now and not making progress haha thats how it goes sometimes

i wasnt really feeling the exhaust so i built a new one. I was thinking this stupid heat wrap would be a good idea to keep heat off my calves but im just going to fab up a heat shield instead bc i hate the way that heat wrap looks now that its on.

starting to make my mid controls today, stock location juat going to make them a bit higher, so high mid controls

Love the pipe tips. Classy for sure.
Any plans on a heat shield for the pipes near the legs? Would/could that be brass too?

Would you do it out of steel and brass plate? Or possibly just get a sheet/bar of true brass? Softer metal so pretty easy to form. $14 for a 2"x12"x1/16" piece of #353 brass on McMasterCarr. Then it can cut to whatever shape you want, drilled, and be polished to match the tips spot-on. Not sure if the metals shops around you carry brass or not.

Been a while since ive updated anything> Just been super busy, i bought a new house recently that has a nice big shop attached to it. Problem was it needed a lot of rehabbing, almost done as of now. So now that the house is finished ive started working on my shop a bit and moving some of my projects over

                              - 68 ironhead chopper (black tank)
                              - 1980 80" shovelhead chopper, half way hot rod but still very streetable
                              - 66 ironhead - (white swing arm frame)- just going to be a restore
                              - 76 shovelhead - ( the half a frame you see, got some nice original knucklehead axle plates im going to hardtail it with, plus long rigid front end when i get the chance to fab one up)
