    Bandit 1200 long chop

Hey chopcult. I already have a thread on here about my blue KZ750 twin. After doing everything I wanted to the bike, and rode the piss out of it, I decided to start a new project. While in limbo of buying our house, I thought long and hard about what I wanted in my next bike. I wanted something that was polar opposite of what I had already, something really long and fast with some good power and semi reliable. But still something you don see everyday. So I settled on a oil cooled bandit 1200 for an engine. I chose them because they ran that engine for years, I used to ride one, and they were pretty peppy stock. But I dont plan on keeping the engine stock. Then I scored a HHUUGGEEE front springer. Then For the frame I contacted Cycleone, and it all went down hill from there.

First, my garage. Its pretty rad, considering I've always shared on with a room mate, then had a carport for the last few years.

Second, dont mind my ugly mug, but heres the springer.

Third, heres the frame being built. Its pretty stout, and it came out rad.

Then heres some mock up pics, mostly with parts I have laying around my garage.

And one last one of my other bike on a ride we went on the other day for good measure.

I hope to stay better connected to this build thread more so than my last. Thanks for checking this out dudes.

Then I scored a HHUUGGEEE front springer. Nice...

The way it sits reminds me of my old BSA A65 chop I had 30 years ago:

            Thanks Man!
Its About 44 NOT compressed, from tree to axle.
The Frame is around 10 up, 6 forward, with a 52 degree rake. ill be running a 21 spool in the front, and a 16 rear. The front wheel in the pics is a 18, its still sorta growing on me.

And thanks to the rest of you dudes for checking this out. Idk how to reply back to all of you in one post haha.

Is that an old Comet Gasser in that there garage?

That front end is a bit longer then I have ever ridden, but the stance on the frame looks killer.

              Keep up the good work

'65 barracuda! It used to be my dd. I sold it for my house closing costs, then the guy I sold it to didn't want it anymore! So he literally gave it back, less and engine and front suspension.

And its Much longer than anything I've ever ridden. But Im sure ill figure it out, like I did with hand shift/ foot clutch/ no front brake that I ride all the time now.

According to DNA, their stock springer is: Measurement is from "The top of the bottom tree to the center of the axle", and their "stock" front end is 23".
                    So you got +21!

I finally looked up the Bandit 1200 engine: The 1200 Bandit...is powered by a re-tuned and higher capacity version of the GSX-R1100 air/oil cooled engine...hydraulically operated clutch...and 5-speed gearbox.

With your plans to not keep it stock, that will be fast! Stayin' tuned to your build!

I needed something fast, mean, and somewhat reliable. My gf rides a 07 sporty, it scoots really well too. 1250cc, 536 S.E. cams, port/ polish heads, power commander. Plus it never breaks down haha. My KZ is a beat old 750 twin, i want to feel myself almost slip off the bike! haha.

Currently sourcing out a decent runner right now.

Now there's some cool beans right there.
IMO the Bandit engine is a great choice and don't understand all these other Virago, Shadow, CB builds when a cheap Bandit is a better choice for powerplant.
                            Power, torque, stone cold reliability.
Another good choice would be a early Yamaha FJ 1100 (air cool) motor.
