Hi new guy here. Was wondering if you can run straight pipes on a 88 suzuki intruder 750 without messing around with carbs?
Thanks jay
Here is some basic info from the Motorcycle MD for a few simple solutions to adjust carbs following the replacement of the exhaust system (some terminology is not great - the contained explosion going on inside the combustion chamber - there better not be an explosion!). "Learning How to tune your carburetors for a new exhaust as well as other bolt-on modifications, will set you apart from anyone else on the street. Never stop gaining knowledge and understanding of the things you love....What we will be doing is called “shimming the needle.” By simply adding a spacing device like with a small washer that the needle sits on top of, richens (adds fuel) to the mixture of the carburetors main jet output."
TriNortChopz, Intruders have dual carbs and are notorious for being a pain in the ass to pull, tune, adjust, and sync. Especially for a newbie. Not that it can’t be done, but someone asking that question generally doesn’t have the knowledge ahead of time.
That said, intrudersalert.com has a ton of intrude specific info about how to mod your airbox, or pull and go with pods, to compliment changing your pipes and bumping up your carbs.
