    Cam upgrade

    Think in bout a cam upgrade for more power on my 1200 sporty...already full stage 1 heavy breather 2 in 2 big radius vnh and fuel commander fp3..looking for more power across the board without sacrificing low or high end. Thoughts??

    Yep, just a cam won't help you any...

          It's very difficult to get a power increase "across the board". Cams that increase power at the top end of the rpm range generally do nothing for the lower end. In fact, the increase is usually at the expense of low end power. Decide where you'd like the power increase to be and then you can select a cam grind based on the cam manufacturer's recommendation.

              Don't know what he is doing for sporty cams, but talk to Leinweber. From what I understand Jim has somewhat retired, but his son is taking over. I called a couple years ago before Jim had retired, and he asks you what you have done, what kind of riding you do, and anything else that will affect the decision of what cam to use, and recommends one of his cam based on your needs. Good guy to deal with.
