    My cone pan build.

    Hey all.
I'm Marty. 26 years old from auburn wa. I had a different post going a few years back, but I think the internet ate it since I can't find it anywhere.
This bike has been one hell of a learning experience. I collected pieces for a few years before I started on it. I also changed direction a few times.. The frame is a kraftech rigid, 0 up 0 out 32 degrees of rake. 2 over Springer with a fabricated wish bone front leg. Tank is a tunneled mustang. Motor is a 74 inch shovelhead bottom, crane fireball can, and std dual pattern panheads. Su carb. Transmission is an std case with Andrews close ratio gears. Its foot clutch and jockey shift. Bdl belt drive. 37 ford spare tire cover rear fender.

So next came paint. I used some old lead based black single stage. Took for ever to dry. I'm no painter by any standard. In fact, I hate painting. I hate sanding even more lol.

So next came assembly and troubleshooting. Man did this bike test my patience. The first ride, the motor mounts came loose, and it vibrated so bad it broke the oil tank mount. The transmission came out twice. Turns out the Chinese mainshaft was pretty soft, so I replaced all the bushings and re-shimmed the gears, along with some new Andrews parts. Then came the idle issue. Would run great, but cough at idle, no matter what I did to the carb. That ended up being a timing issue. Rode it around town a bit, and one day it lost compression. Valve hung open. Ended up finding out the heads were pieced together with no machine work, thus leaking valves and seized valves. 4 guides and 4 valves later. I was trying to get it shaken down for a big 4 day camping trip down through Oregon. 2 fresh heads later, the valves wouldn't stay adjusted, and one pushrod bent. That's when I found out it has some oddball springs from what I think was a bigblock Chevy, and they had so much tension at .530 lift it was pulling the keepers through the retainer plate. This was discovered 2 days before the ride. Sourced out an entire valve train from a bike with 300 miles on it, and for once it actually ran good!

So the day before the big camping trip, I put about 50 trouble free miles on it. That's was enough for me to say fuck it, let's ride. We loaded up on a Thursday and came back on a Monday. Roughly 1300 miles living on the bike
Mind you, I also hadnt done the whole title thing yet, and instead opted for some ratty ol 70s licence plate I found. Keep choppers sketchy!

So I rode it all summer right until the tank got a pinhole and ruined the paint. Did i mention I hate bodywork? Decided to change it up a little while I was fixing the tank, and put an tin primary on it. Just a heads up, tin primarys don't work with a BDL belt drive. Everything is too big. Took some work, but I think it helps clear up some empty space on that side of the bike..

                Fuck yea.

How do you like the andrews close ratio gears in the trans? I run them and kinda wish I had left them stock, have to reel up 3rd gear a ton before I can put it in 4th.

Might ride down. Depends on if my vacation gets approved or not.

They're not too bad. Iv got a big cam with ported heads, so the motor likes to rev anyway
