Yeah, I was that kid too. Used to love taping up the bars with different kinds of tape.
I lived on my bike. Thought it was my horse in a Western.

For me and my buddies, the cool bike was stingray size and style (didn't matter if it was a real Schwin), painted black, stripped of all fenders, reflectors and chain guards, old leather 10 speed seat, old leather tool bag hanging from the back of the seat. Seat as low as you could go. Apes of course. Horrible for peddling but really cool for coasting. Late sixties, early seventies.
