1977 KZ 750-B2 Starter Solenoid Troubles

I have a 1977 KZ 750-B2 Twin that the starter solenoid had to be replaced. Picked up a new after market solenoid from local cycle shop. Hooked it up, fired up the bike (started fine) but the starter motor still stayed engaged even when I shut the bike off. It stayed engaged until I disconnected the negative battery cable. With the key off, when the neg cable engaged the post, the starter would crank. I thought the solenoid was defective so I returned it and got a replacement. Hooked everything up with the new solenoid and the same result. Any suggestions on what is going on?

NT, did you ever figure out what was going on with your 750 twin?

Here is some info that may help: https://www.kzrider.com/forum/2-engi...ssues-to-check

My buddy has four of those DOHC 'square-engined' twins (78mm bore X 78 mm stroke); great motors - trying to get him build a double-twin. The Z-1 900 was also square at 66 x 66. Just interesting.
If buildin' old school choppers was easy, anyone could do it... ain't nobody said it's gonna be easy...

Yes. The second solenoid was defective also. Cheap aftermarket crap.

      Thanks for the link.
