Harley's sand casting was a bit poor back in those days ....

Your flywheels are the 3-1/2" stroke of the EL models, has the stepped crank-pin...
The Boys at T&O makes replacement flywheels with the 41-up FL crank-pin taper ... And difference strokes in the EL outside diameter of 8-1/8"
STROKE AVAILABILITY
3-1/2" stock for EL
3-31/32" stock for FL
4-1/4"
4-1/2"
4-5/8"
4-3/4"
5"
Old Hot-Rod trick was to take a set of FL flywheels and turn down the outside diameter to be used in Flathead or 61" Knuckle engines.
(3/8" would need to be trimmed off)
These wheels are T&O with the larger FL taper ... (Lighten Wheels)
They are the stock 3-1/2" Stroke and went into a Baby Knuck case ...

I thought the old hot rod trick was to take the 80" flathead wheels with an offset crankpin to turn them into 80" motors.Comment

Back in the day when you could find the 80" wheels (4-9/32" stroke) it was ...
But, you would be stuck with the stepped crank-pin ... Unless ya machined an offset taper going to the FL crank-pin.
That would gain about another 0.080" of stroke...
Don't think I would want to use UL flywheels being they was a bit weak compared to today's choice of materiel, gray iron vs ductile iron type deal ....
(But that's just me)

Lets run down the numbers on that combo ...
From the stock stroke of the EL's and going to the 80" UL stroke (Offset FL crank-pin included)...
That's increasing the stroke by .720"
Pretty big jump, almost 3/4 of an inch..
Cubes with 4.220" stroke and the stock bore of the EL (3.312")
= 72.7 inches
With the FL bore (3.437")
= 78.3 inches
Real Power House here ....

I was outta town for awhile and just found out Knuckle Jesus had a stroke.......heading to the rehab facility now to see him (same one my mom had her 97% stroke recovery, good facility)...don't really know the severity other than left side and he's taking visitors.....

That being said, the Motor's at Russels, (Motor jesus 2.0) cases are welded nicely all parts are in and the heads are arriving by Friday.
Knuckle Jesus' mild stroke affected his left side but with a little physical therapy he should be able to true the flywheels even with a semi-gimp arm. I'm pulling for him.......Comment

jeez bbq, that's a fucking shame about motor jesus. i'm getting to the age were I have a lot of ill friends. i used to hear my mom and dad talking about people they knew who were sick or had died. i thought it was such a weird thing, being 20 and immortal. now i'm doing it.
