I decided to have a local shop tackle the motor Knuckle Jesus at Cape Cod Choppers is going to do the build. Motor’s completely dissembled, cases are being media blasted, Everything else is being measured and tossed or replaced. New cam & oil pump already arrived. One of the heads is being welded up I told him if anything is marginal just go ahead and replace it. No chrome, nothing polished just bead blasted raw cam cover and rocker covers.

I have a Linkert M74B that I can use and will need an ignition. I have a Vulcan electronic distributor on my shovel and another one on my Pan but I want to go a different route with this maybe a magneto or one of those types that I see that looks like an automotive distributor it actually has two spark plug wires coming off the timer what is the advantage or disadvantage to those?

Early conversions ( late 40's early 50's?), Poole distributor conversion, wires come out the top/ Surestart has wires come out the side. Later (70's?) somebody made some bigtwin distributors that used Indian Chief (strand industrial motor) distributor stuff. All are single fire, and can use single lead automotive coil

Also never seen a 2 wire conversion. 2 wires to sparkplugs, 3rd wire to coil. All are 3 wires.

That one ^^ is for a 45 Flatty, K Models or early Sportie...
I can lay on hands on it, but would need the long shaft for the Big Twins ...

Knuckle Jesus has started work I’ll take photos as I can.

Some sketchy areas of the cases are going to be ground down and welded more parts are still arriving, awaiting pushrods pushrod tubes & lifters. The Pistons I had were able to be reused as they had never even been installed and the cylinders are going to get a hone. The heads are still being worked on and all the tins have arrived for them

Nice looking start, But you better be easy on it when you get it back together.... If you don't it won't last long...

That motor has had a hard life....

That distributor top on the knuckle is a Poole distributor conversion.. Any info on the rotor that goes in there? I have a fairly good idea what the adapter looks like?

There’s going to be a bit of repair work done on the cases, especially the left. Has to be able to withstand my brutal throttle hand.....JUST KIDDING! I’ll be gentle I swear
