    More shovelhead clutch problems

Alright, ratchet top, open belt, rivera pro. Had it working then I pulled the basket to replace the belt.
Started it's life as an 80 fxs. Just built a ratchet top for it though, maybe 200 miles on it trouble free.

Adjust the clutch it's fine, get through a couple gears fine, get to the stop sign at the end of the block and the lever is slack, slam gears back home and it's back in adjustment again. Cable was coming apart so I replaced it with high hopes, put the new one on to no avail.

What the fuck should I be looking for?

Edit: mainshaft is moving, the four screw retainer still allows room for endplay, still trying to figure out how to address the issue.

Someone tell the story of the "Million Dollar Dime" I don't know if it is still used when the Rivera clutch is installed.

It's losing adjustment like the basket or mainshaft is moving, but I can't come up with anything obvious.

Alright got it in slack mode. Basket hasn't moved so neither has the mainshaft. I guess it's gotta be something with the pushrod seating/throwout.

Think it's time to pull the kick cover off and have a look at the throw-out bearing...

Yeah I was really trying to avoid it, that 10 pack of gaskets is coming in real handy after all, I'm about half way through them.
It's the early style throwout, anything to look for beyond obviously being totally fucked?
Seemed fine when I put it together and I didn't have any issues until I put this new belt on and tried to ride.

You can grease or vaseline the gasket you install and sometimes get more than one use from them.

                    I'd inspect the pushrod too.

I wouldn't readjust until I knew everything was kosher.

Ditto ... The pushrods are made diff for both types of bearings...

Yeah the pushrod came with the trans, don't know if it's right but I know it was working just fine and dandy initially. I fuckin hate puttin shit together and it leaking, and every time I re use a gasket it's sure to.
