I just picked up a 76 cb500 basket for the right price. The bike is all there, just kinda crusty and won't fire. It kicks and holds compression and runs thru all the gears.

Whats everyone using to change over electronic ignition and for distributors? This is my first foray into the Japanese world.

Been a week but I'm bored at work, have you gotten anywhere? and also have you pulled the plug, wrapped a wire around it grounded it and looked for spark? I'm sure you have, but with those old hondas, it's usually the carb. a 76 has points, you could check the gap, or see if they are broken or corroded.
