    Shovelhead Cam

I gots me a 78 Shovel engine and it came to me in a tackle box so i'm working out all the bits i can keep and all the bits i'm going to need to replace. I found a set of two different cams and the only stamp on either one is at the end of each lobe. One an H and the other an N. I know Andrews has a cam with an H grind and shows its specifications on it so i'm guessing its an Andrews but I can't find anything on the N.

A little guidance on the matter would be fantastic as the google machine could only provide me with so much information. Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, both those cams are Harley....
    (Nothing to write home about)

Andrews is proud of their products, If you don't see AP or Andrews stamped on it, it's not made by them...

    That's not a cam.....

    This is a cam.... !!!

I just so happen to have a cam that would wake up your motor...
Made By Leineweber, new in a box L-3S ...

Absolutely the finest cam for a shovelhead on the
market today for bottom and mid-range power.
    Requires minor head work.

Hahahaha excellent. As it turns out you are 100% correct about them both being Harley. The H cam is for Shovelheads and the N cam is for EVO's (92 and up). I just had to do a little more diggin. As far as that L-3S goes, what kind of minor headwork we talkin' bout?

        Just spring checks ...

        It has a .482" lift...
May see a need to trim a bit off the top of the guide, would be a grand idea to replace the 40+ year old Oem springs with some AP or KPMI.

Sure don't want to drop a valve due to "Metal Fatigue" .... That would f*** up your day ..!!!

...... Not to mention motor components ......

I'm running the L3S cam on my shovel and I do recommend it. Bump up your compression some and you'll get even more out of it.

A few days ago I called Jimmy to get the set-up specs on the Ironhead L-5 cams... (The head in post #2 photo will be going on a 75 XLH 74 cubes running that grind) Did the assembly work on them months ago and wanted to run down a few checks before they was nailed on for final assembly....

Tried my best to talk with the Gent, but was unable to communicate cause his hearing is getting really bad...
I'm guessing "The Barn Job" (Vincent Nitro Drag Bike) had a lot to do with that.... Told him I would call back when Justin (His Son) was there....

never ran the Leineweber Do Love the A grind the best now the AB 10 deg more lift than A but the A is pissa on the high way and in my light chopper it would pull the wheel off the ground at idle
I love J grind also a real good peppy cam through power band that really is an awesome cam for a panhead, I run a J in my Pan.
Drag I had an R5 in sporty I stroked back in the day

Not sure it will work in a 75 ...
I'll take a look at it tomorrow ... But do think it's for the 77-84 year models ...???

Is this cam for sale? If so I'm interested in purchasing it.
