Had a bad deal with a member on here or elsewhere? Been screwed by a company with crappy customer service? Post it here.
The only rules are that your facts have to be conclusive, and you need to state them clearly. Not "I haven't heard from him in a while" or "Anyone got the number for Sick Azz Chopz"? Also, please don't chime in and pile on with "Yeah that guy sucks". Only post if you have been burned and are "outing" someone. This way people don't have to sort through a hundred pages of "Yeah, fuck that guy!" posts. Thanks.
If you are done with this person or vendor and don't see any other way to resolve it, put 'em in here to warn others to steer clear.
If it gets out of hand, we'll delete the thread, so think twice before you commit.

Duane Ballard: Anyone have issues/problems in dealings with him?
In September 2008 (no, not a typo, two zero zero EIGHT) he took $1200 of my money, plus a $295 seat kit I bought from Fab Kevin and to date has yet to deliver anything.
I've been told numerous times it'll be shipped by the end of next week and received excuses from "having to send my daughter back east" to "I've got a big order from Sucker Punch Sally's."
At the end of 2009 he even said it was shipped, but he didn't follow my shipping instructions and had no tracking number. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and after a few months, together we concluded it was lost in the mail. But after a bunch of missed deadlines and now ignoring my e-mails completely I have my doubts. How does an established craftsman who trades via the mail send a client's $1500 value order without a tracking number?
I saved for a long time to be able to afford such a seat. And I think I've been more than fair and patient with him, but I'm at a point now where I just feel I've been ripped off. I think it's unbelievable that a person as established as Duane Ballard has treated a client this poorly.
This post is my last hope of getting anything out of this deal. I want the seat and p-pad I ordered or my money and Fab Kevin seat kit returned.
I tried reaching out to his wife Lisa Ballard who helped me out with a Cycle Source subscription problem very effectively, but she replied saying Duane Ballard Custom Leather wasn't her deal. I totally respect that. So this is really my last hope and I hope the owners and moderators of this forum do not close/delete this post.
If you don't believe this, post or PM me your e-mail address and I'll forward my entire conversations with Duane Ballard himself and you can be the judge. I'm an adult, if I'm in the wrong, I'll shut up and move on. So I'll assume Duane Ballard is an adult as well and if he has no intentions of making good on this deal, I expect my money returned.
Any insights/suggestions on how to proceed will be much appreciated.

Johan, I moved it before I saw your request. This is the appropriate place for these kinds of complaints anyway. Duane is a good friend of mine. It'll be his job to deal with this as it's his business and none of mine, other than the fact I'm a mod on this forum.

Sent one set, seat and p-pad, and it didn't show. Was told the post office there is good at taking packages. So picked up another fab kevin pan and p-pad and made them again. Those went out a few weeks ago and don't know if it's a customs deal or what. I'll look into it. I don't do this to rip anyone off. I do this because I love doing it and it just happens to be a way I pay the bills.

Duane,
Since it's out in the open, and is has been the only way to get a reply out of you, I'm going to keep it out in the open for the time being.
I have given you the benefit of the doubt since the beginning. And also since the beginning I have told you to use Fedex or UPS (at my expense), not the post office.
For you to ship it via USPS the first time, that's got to be on you. And if you claim to have done it again after me warning you repeatedly after the first go around, that's got to be on you as well. For that matter, where's the tracking number for the second shipment?
My doubts are double now after your post and claims of sending a second time. Not only have you failed to inform me, you have failed again to provide a tracking number, and plus you have never given me progress or final photos of the products.
FYI, it takes 5 working days to ship via Fedex or UPS to my country. No bullshit, ask around. And if you use USPS, it takes around 1 month, but I need the tracking number to claim the goods out of customs, otherwise they simply keep it to themselves.
Your excuses are catching up to you.

I don't fault Bill for moving the thread into the SHIT LIST. Rules are rules and I'll respect that.
KT, as for legal actions, are there any I can pursue? Will it be worth the effort and money is another issue?
And to all the props of Christian of Xian Leather, you won't get me to disagree. I know him, he's done a lot of work for me, his work is the best, his service is the best as well. I just wish I knew of him before entering this deal with Duane Ballard.

Small claims court no cost to file and if there is it is minimal ....you win the court cost get passed to the defendant ....there is statues of limitation though (time basis) in which one can file...Small claims is for anything under $5000 ....disputed labor fees and such apply in this court also ....
If I seemed insensitive to your problem I don't mean to be.... I just believed alot of us that don't have a dog in the fight should stay silent instead of mucking up a useful thread ....I will not post in this thread on this subject again ....sorry but I am not a hypocrite and more than 2 posts with no just cause and I would be just that ...

'americanclassicmotors' on eBay. I ordered a fender from them. Upon receiving it, it was severly dented, while the box that is was shipped in was in perfect conditon. Any and all communication has been ignored, and suspiciously, there is no record of the transaction on ebay. (Therefore I can not leave negative feedback) I didn't know that was even possible.

there is a whole thread about american classic motors on XL forum, the general idea is that they have crummy service and if you have a problem the guy will chew you out like you did something wrong. it was enough for me to not ever want to do buisiness with em.

Quade HD in Temecula CA. On a scale of 1 through 10 I'll give them a 2.
3 times I've had to stop there looking for help, all 3 times I was basicly told to fuck off.
1st time I was on my way to Nor Cal for the Redwood Run. Lost the rear brake line on the shvl. I needed a new line but was told that without a part number there was no way to help me out. I asked the kid at the parts counter to go in the back, look on the peg board where they keep brake line and bring me one about 24 to 30 inches long. He said sorry i need a part number to find it.
2nd time: On my way home from the Redwood Run a cpl of yrs later. I was on my new 2005 ultra classic road couch. The rear pipe was loose, I stoped to fix it in the parking lot. I went insode and bought a mounting kit for $14.99. The mounting kit consited of a one bolt, one nut, one lock washer. While installing the new bolt I was asked to move my bike because it was bad for business to have someone seen fixing a newish bike in the parking lot.
3rd time. I went up to the Biltwell HQ. To pick up my bike after the Gypsy Run. Bike was giving me shit so I pulled into Quade to wait for a tow truck. I was told to move my bike off the premisses to wait for the truck. I asked why and was told because HD does not want any old bikes hanging around and that they needed the parking spot for the guys coming in for the Hot Dog and coffee clutch...

I have been waiting 6 months for a solo bag that he said would take 2 months to make. Since he hasn't been returning my calls and I have yet to see a bag, I just called American Express and told them the story, and they refunded my $200 deposit.
Edit: Spoke to him today (7/7/10) via email. Apparently he had some sort of computer crash and lost my order. He assured me that my bag would be done in a week, so it looks like the problem is solved. I'm glad because I do think he is the best in the business, and I didn't want to have to go to someone else. I'll post pics when I get the bag.

Apparently he hates Canadians. That would have been some good information to know BEFORE I gave him my money........it also explains everything.
