Hey everybody, I am hoping somebody here can tell me if I can change the lid on my 1949 Panhead from the original jockey top to a 1952 ratchet top lid? I have read the Clymer manual and do not clearly see why it wouldn't interchange but I am pretty new to this. Any help is appreciated!

Sure it will clear... But you can't just swap it out... You will need to make sure that neutral is centered in the right place...
Are you going to a foot shift??? -
It's worn out but fixable. A jockey top shifter is preferable to me because in an emergency you can throw it into neutral quick , grab some brakes and get back into gear faster. W/a ratchet top you'd have to shift through other gears first in order to get there and if your wheel speed wasn't fast enough , lock up your bike .Comment
