cb500 Springer chopper front brat rear hybrid

Greetings: I am bigjeff and I did a cb900c bobber build a while ago....it was friggin fantastic to ride. But alas - I grew tired of my new toy and sold it. The buyer traded me a dilapidated old 1972 cb500 frame with a 78 cb550 engine with a fury springer and an invader front wheel. What? A NEW TOY to fuck with! I am excited.

So we begin on the saga of the cb500/550 springer chopper front- brat style rear hybrid. There is a reason I went with the swing arm and shocks in the back rather than go hard tail but I will explain that later.

Here it is being pulled out of the storage shed. It was there for YEARS AND YEARS......rusted bad.

So what is the first thing to do? Why take it all apart of course.

New dual headlights. (I want this bike to be like the ones I saw in high school in the early 70s). Dual rectangles it is!

Fabricate seat area. The original frame was cut to add a king queen seat. It was way too low for me. I am tall and needed to go up. Filled it with aircraft style structure (which will be my electrical battery box under the brat seat. I also like brat seats cause' you can move around and keep monkey butt at bay:

detail view of aircraft style structure. All the electrics and switches will go on this triangular enclosure which can be accessed by removing one bolt and lifting the seat out of the way.

Now I guess I need to work on the engine so it will do something but sit there and look pretty. Why not bore it out and put bigger pistons in there? A CB600!!!

Stuck the crankcase in the frame. Gunna build the top end in the frame. Easier to get it in that way IMHO. Sneak up on it one assembly at a time.

And last night - put the new rings on the new pistons and installed them on the connecting rods.

Is the area in front of the seat with no padding for you to sit on????? And the big large cushy seat for a fat chick with a big ass?????? Since you say you like ass...
Sure-----why not. lol I do like a big ass on a woman. Bigger the cushion the better the pushin' and all that. The flat portion will have the headlight on off high/low toggle switch and a ignition kill toggle switch. The ignition key on the left side triangle.

This is a small bike. Only room for one. Like I said, I am tall so my ass will be right over those new shocks. I don't think I have ever seen a springer brat before - but I have now!

Never to old for anything if you want to do it. I drive a tricked out firebird too. Going though my mid life crisis but I am ok with that. My dick still works so I am good.

Got the cylinders on last night. I lapped the valves already, plan to put the valves back in the head and install the cylinder head this weekend. Then.....rebuild the clutch!

                        Thanks Doc.

Valves go in the head, then on with the cylinders and rockers/valve cover - and tuh duh: Engine is done. Just need a fuel and ignition system now. Hmm....I'll get right on that. Stayed tuned. :/

I don't understand the gap in front of the seat... it just breaks the flow to me.

yeah - I get what you are saying. It was a compromise.

I am 6'4" tall and had to get the seat up and back to make the mid pegs work for me. I loath forward controls as I don't feel in control of the bike. That is my dirt bike rider dayd coming through in me I guess.

So - it was a function over form thing. The triangular metal box will house the small kick start only battery, the Ricks rectifier/regulator, ignition switch, power bus ect., and various switches (lights, kill switch etc.) I have led tipped metal toggles for that.
