Anybody know what the inner thread size is inside the stem?......the thread that the steering dampner nut goes into

Your lucky , I happened to have my springer apart and went and checked. I thought I had one and ran it through to test. It is a 3/4"-14 and the external thread is a 1"-24.
I just saw it was for a 45. I still think the internal thread size was the same just the outside went to a 7/8ths - 24.

Na - the 45 stem is smaller inside as well. Trying to set up a steering dampner. I have everything excerpt the nut that threads into the stem. I have the nut for a BT and yea it's 3/4".....the 45 nut is more like 5/8. Was planning to hopefully just make one instead of trying to track one down

Well, not a big 45 guy so you learn something new every day. Maybe call your local AMCA ( or forum) chapter and. Check w/them. I would imagine they still went w/the 14 pitch though.

I've heard it used both ways. Who knows.
