Ok, I have been a member here for a long time, this will be my first build thread. Long story short I inherited this bike from my grandpa last December, he always gave me shit for the bikes I built but I think he always really liked them, so I will be building this bike just to fuck with him (he is smiling I am sure) so started with bone stock 92 sporty, we all know what they look like... I will get you caught up to where I am at now.

As of now here are the specs, 45Deg rake with 5deg in the tree's should keep my trail in a good place, fork tubes will be about 56" long from bottom tree to center axle, I will run dual 19's and go from there.

Started designing the rigid front end, With lots of help from Joel (image1), basically using 1 5/16" 3/8" wall DOM tubing, had my trees burned at work then machined to suit.


next machined my neck at work.


Next it was frame time used a basic Motorshop type design, went 6" up and 45 deg. rake, single loop. I wanted it to look short in the rear so brought the looped tail in some.


Here is a shot of it roughly mocked up. it is basically exactly what I was going for.


this is basically where I am at today, I just drew up my axle plates and neck gussets today hopefully cutting them tonight?

This will be a slight bit slow going at first.

Hey guys, unfortunately my wife got cancer and has been doing radiation and chemo, So this got put on the back burner. I am back on it now and have the motor almost completely mounted and got a tank from a buddy, also have the headlight bracket made, more updates to come.. I am really pushing to have it done by the beginning of February for the "one show" Here in Portland.

Ok, not much new to report but it is time to go full speed ahead! seat is mounted along with fender and sissy bar, motor mounts are done, The only fab work left is oil tank (which i am building now) then exhaust. pull it apart for final welding and throw it back together for shake down. depending on how nice of a spring we have in Oregon it might not get paint (or will get an ok rattle can job) or chrome this year. I am not a fan of doing this because i hate hearing nice "rat bike" but i would rather ride it then have it apart for paint......

Is that a 19 rear mag? What you do special to run it with a pulley?

Yes, it is a 19"mag, it is actually the stock front wheel off the bike. the bolt pattern is the same for the rotors and the pulley, so as far as that goes it is an easy thing, With that said what you have to do is machine a spacer to get the pulley/sprocket to line back up with the motor. I will be able to do this once my chain conversion shows up. I should be machining all my oil tank fittings after work today, i got material for my final handle bars so i will machine my bungs for those also, few more things to buy and i will be on the road....
