I would have guessed here because the title of the section says "American Bike Build threads, tech Q&A and conversations centered around custom-built American motorcycles". this is 100% engineered custom built American bike made to hold a jap motor. The Japanese section says its for builds that come from the land of the rising sun and this one obviously didnt. Henceforth my confusion when you answered like you did. I figured I would ask anyways and you answered totally what I figured opposite :-)Comment

with the motor in place, now I can start the fab of the foot clutch and jockey, pegs, will bend up a hex oil, I have the original Santee electrical box, thinking of making an intake and run a single 42 mikuni. It fed my turbo HD plenty so should be more than adequate for an 836. I had a line on an old set of invaders but they were priced to high for their condition, rewelds etc etc, so I am going to redo the other rear rim I have, its a trump hub laced to a HD 15" rim. old and rusty but I will freshen the combo up and use it until I find the right set of invaders.
I found the old chrome elect box in a big box of nothingless crap and that was cool enough but when I opened it, I found....picture is the sticker I found inside the electrical box.

i get what you are trying to say.
just trying to help out.
not trying to get into my (or your) beliefs about rule interpretation.
if a Japanese guy builds a 80" flathead h-d out of parts he scoured up all over the japanese islands it still goes in the American section.
i am a confessed jap bike aficionado.
but my 1978 z1r that i have owned in america since 1980 and have rebuilt in the oklahoma dirt with parts i drug out of dirty american cars where the parts had been stashed still goes in the japanese section, imho sir.
i own 3 1978 kz1000 z1r's ,1 1980 kz1000 z1r,3 1976 kz900's, 1 78 cb750(to be built into a chopper) and a few others from other continents.
so i ain't hatin
sorry if you did not agree,
but like i said in order to keep stuff "in order" engine dictates the forum,to the best of my understanding.
if i'm wrong someone will correct me.
i can't wait to see whatcha build with watcha got.
so put it wherever you like if it's in the wrong spot the mods can sort it out .
or not.
i'll be watching either way,
here's a coupla the jap bikes i have and love.
keep us posted,

I did some following up since I posted this and got your one response and I can see no where does it say "engine dictates" you are the only one saying that, when the description plainly tells you what the various sections are for. It specifically mentions build/creation origin, not what motor origin. So I popped up a sticker for you to see it was made in California. I was hoping to stay in the American section due to that.
I got jap bikes also, this isnt one of em. I have a 69 T500 and an italian 74HD mx250Comment
