I thought I had seen this info in my HD manual, but damned if I see it now. Here is what I *think* the stock gears in the late 70's FX are (someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong):
    1) 2.44:1
    2) 1.66:1 (or could it be 1.82?)
    3) 1.23:1
    4) 1:1

IIRC, I've been told the 4 speed FL boxes had wider ratios than the FX (as well as some change in the shift mechanism). Fact or fiction?

Reason I ask, it might be a way to allow taller final drive for those 140kmh highway runs, but still be able to get rolling from a stop...

First was the only difference between FL and 75' and later FXE/FX 3.00 for FL vs 2.45 for FX Bike is AWESOME!
