Born Free 8 People's Champ 4 BUILD THREAD

I'm grateful to have been picked as one of the 25 guys in the People's Champ deal for Born Free 8.

My name is Kevin McKay. I do High Style Neat Chopper Stuff. You can see lots and lots of good stuff on my instagram @high_style_neat_chopper_stuff. Fist and foremost, I love motorcycles. I'm building a panhead, an exact clone of the red and white bike from the 1966 film The Wild Angels.

I'm using a 1952 panhead engine and trans, wishbone frame, early pan hydraglide front end with drum, 21" star hub front, 19" star hub rear with mechanical brake. Carb is Dellorto SS1. Tank and fender are English Wassell. Seat and ppad are Italian Selle.

So far, I've done a bunch of stuff...
Shaved fender mounts on front forks
    Shaved upper and lower trees
    Made the Zbars
Deraked old chopperized neck back to stock
Took 1" out of old chopperized downtubes back to stock
Welded tank mounts on old English Wassell tank
Welded tank mounts on frame backbone
Welded handmade seat hinge mount on frame
    Tacked in seat spring mounts
    Mounted rear ppad
    Made sissy bar from scratch
Chopped front pipe up in four pieces to hug the frame and match old bike
Welded oil tank mount back on that was previously cut off

I'll post regular updates. When people ask "who's High Style?", he's the guy who loves motorcycles. Hope you dig this enough to vote for me when the time comes. I appreciate the support!

    Love,
    Kevin
    high style til I die

Thanks a ton! I really appreciate that.

For those that don't know, this 1969 gen shovel was the last bike I built. I made a bunch of stuff on it and painted it. It'll be in the next issue of DiCE magazine #65 in a couple of weeks.

I'll also be doing this panhead top to bottom in house including paint, all except for chrome plating.

Just mentioning it cause it's something I noticed at first glance; pretty sure that guy is rockin the ppad the opposite way you mounted yours. A lot of bikes in those old 60s flicks had them fat side down.

I welded up the front pipe that was tacked together and shot a little exhaust paint on it. Needs a teeny bit more work before rechrome. I also swapped in some proper fork gaiters.

Well jeez man it looks like you're almost already DONE. Hope I get to see this at born free and it better only have 6 pounds of air in the tire. hahaha

I've got a good start but I'm a long ways from done. I hope you get to see it at born free with a flat tire too!
