Anybody built a sportster powered Knucklehead or WL clone?

In particular, how do you mount the big front fender on a cheap DNA springer, how do you put a post seat on it that looks right? I plan to have a LedSleds hardtail on a stock frame and use an evo sportster motor.

Don't. Just don't. Please don't. It's been tried about a gazillion times, and every one of them I've ever seen has looked like an ass sandwich on fucked up bread. There is nothing in the world wrong with a nicely done Sportster. Conversely, there is nothing in the world right with a Sportster exhibiting "big twin envy."

I wish not to kill your buzz, only to redirect it. Imagine if you took all the money you would have spent "cloning" and put it all into engine/drive-line work instead. You could be rocking a clean, simple, BADASS chopped Sportster with which to go out and just beat the living piss out of big twins, rice rockets, and whatever else might be foolish enough to try and go stoplight to stoplight with you.

Of course, that could just be my horsepower-addicted ass talking. Not everyone has the same sickness I have. But seriously, I've not yet seen any of these clones that looked right by any stretch of the imagination and some of them have had ungodly amounts of cash thrown at them in the attempt. And every one of those guys, when they set out on their epic journey, said "Yeah, but mine will be different..."

hmmm...your logic intriques me. I did have a 1250 sportster and it pulled like a freight train and it was fun to ride. That's more fun than caring about how your bike looks to other people.

I don't know how to attach links but there is a beautiful "old" sportster powered WL type project on jockey journal.

Name of the thread is Ironhead WL look.

How about a flathead in a sportster frame?

The Flatster is nice but that Splathead is sweet.
