starter wont spin

So yet another fuck up with the ol turd. 02 sporty 1250 with n4 cams. my starter engages but does not spin. i pulled it and hooked it up to the battery as a double check. still no spin. pulled it apart checked the solenoid and nothing out of the ordinary armature and brushes still have a tone of "meat" everything is good to go but nothing. any suggestions? before i get a new starter?

Test how much juice is getting to the starter.

Put 12 volts directly to the bolt on top of the solenoid and see if the starter spins. If it does, the solenoid contacts are probably caked up from arcing and need to be cleaned.

That or the starter clutch.
