The next stage was to make the base some 2mm ali sheet was bought and work started by folding round some trussty exhaust tube

    [IMG][/IMG]

next it could be marked out and cut to shape to match teh frame tubes then drilled ready for riveting.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Next the leading edge which had been left long was hammered over to give a rolled edge

    [IMG][/IMG]

And final riveting into the rear hoop

till next time thanks for watching

Thanks guys, been draging my feet on this trying to get a Harley build completed but rest assured more build updates are on the way.

Spokes have just turned up for the front wheel so going to give it a go to build this up and see how we get on, pics to follow.

After a mix up with the spokes (19 plays 18 front wheel ) my fault entirely those good guys at Moto-Bins delivered the replacement front spokes. Now I had read several people saying have a go yourself at building the wheel and so far very therapeutic it was, something very satisfying in putting new / refurbed parts back together.
Not finished yet but an experimental spin up and looks to be running true and concentric - lets see how good it is after a proper spoke tightening session...

                Anyway photos....

So when is an MZ not when its a BMW......

Had a bit of down time form the Harley build and made up some badges for the tank

                      [IMG][/IMG]

                      [IMG][/IMG]

Only made the 1 side - going to sit with it and see what i think next time the tank gets some attention.

Any reason for using the R69 frame as opposed to a /5 or /6? Just curious.

                                Hi IndianaSlim

Its about the lines of the plunger frame just looks right - already has a drop seat look as standard in my eyes, bit of history and not a typical bike for drag racing also helped.
