    Start button wiring help

I have an evo sportster with a very basic chopper wiring on it and a plunger starter on the solenoid. I want to put a pushbutton start on it, can someone please give me a simple diagram to do this?

You're going to need to add a relay. The diagram below is a little "busy" but if you ignore all the other shit it shows pretty clearly how to wire the starter circuit.

Hate to sound stupid but that relay confuses me. Do u have one that uses a simple two lead relay?

No ! You need the relay, a common 2 wire switch will not carry enough amps and will eventually burn up. Simple relay will do it.

No ! Follow Nottso's lead here. You need the relay, a common 2 wire switch will not carry enough amps and will eventually burn up. Simple relay will do it.

No, go with the relay. Pretty simple to wire in, and you can have minimal crap on your bars/wherever put it, and you can hide the relay under the seat. Basically all the relay is, is a heavier duty coil which is activated by your push button switch that just sends a 12v signal.

You could always go with a heavy duty relay like one of these.

Heres a simple diagram use with an auto style key with or a momentary button.

You could just put one of those heavy duty auto style starter buttons. And ditch the relay altogether.Sometimes they last forever, sometimes they burn up quick….
