Ya mean like a party that is so terrified of a few refugees walking toward our border to seek asylum that they call it an invasion and send soldiers that are prevented by law from firing their weapons? Let s talk about immigration policy reform or metal health programs or enforcement of existing gun registration laws. Sure it sells less commercial time and ad space and it is kinda mundane...but....nah, Chicken Little is more fun to watch.

So, I got 2:1 odds that the first images you see of the "refugee caravan' at the border will be women with infants in hand or lines of childen.

It is interesting to read the history of these caravans, they actually have been taking place for many years, but in the past they were a couple of hundred people at a time. Because of the dangers in the trip and the fact that these have been traditionally a lot of women and children, there was a need to travel as a group.

It is the advent of social media that has made this one so big. Score another point for Facebook~!

I agree there will be ne'er do wells in this group, probably much more than usual. BUT this is why there is a screening process at the border. If WE act like a civilized people and honor our own laws about immigration then I say let them come and let's see who are eligible to come in.

And that is where this becomes complex. There has been a calculated and deliberate effort to do the absolute least at the border as we can get away with. Rather then sending soldiers we should be sending lawyers and judges to expedite the processing. Many of the migrants, who feel they cannot wait are crossing illegally as they see no other way to get heard. Is it right, no, but do we shoot them, no again.

When the Nazi's took over Europe the U.S. ramped up the procedures at Ellis Island to get as many folks processed as they could. I know that is when and where my family came into the country.

One thing that seems to be overlooked, all this crying by Trump about immigrants coming to America and what was one of the first things Trump did after getting into office, why it was bring Malania's parents into the U.S. Where was the process for them? ( Oh right, they are not brown skinned )

Oh, I was so with you until the last paragraph.

Truth is, in the last decade, it been easier to process immigration documents for those from Central/South America (8.8 million) then from Eastern Europe/ Middle East (1.2 million)

Economic strife and persecution? Try living in western Ukraine's Donbas or Syria
