Default Suzuki savage trees XS650 forks? possible?

I have read that folks have used the suzuki savage front end on an xs 650....
Can I get away with just useing the triple trees and keeping the XS forks?
also does this make the forks the same distance apart or wider/narrower....
    Thanks for the help ,

the way savage forks are made- nope its not going to work out.

but you can mount a savage frontend to the xs650 yam neck mates right up but you will have to change the bearings out .

axle on the savage is 15mm but the axle on the savage is threaded on only 1 end whereas on the other end of the axle its more of an allyn bolt that holds it tighter in place.

    (78-81), XS650SJ/SK (82-83):

    Upper: 25 x 48 x 15.2
    Lower: 30 x 48 x 15

ID on both XS and LS are the same, for both the top and bottom...find bearing number for both XS and LS, as they may be the same.

OD is a bit different, but you gonna have to do the research to find out the bearing(cone) number...probably (gonna guess without doing the necessary research) that they are the same number, and just the bearing race (cup) is a different diameter, which relates to a bit of a different thickness of the assembled bearings..not much thickness difference though; 0.2mm (0.008") top, and 2mm bottom (0.080"), just need a spacer (washer).

what about neck length? that may be a bit of a killer, but if a big difference, press the XS neck outta the bottom tree and press it in the bottom of the LS tree....make it work.

You got a set of verniers (digital, or dial) to make and record your measurements? share them here to help the next guy.
