    Default HELP: Brake rotor question...

I have a question about machining a brake rotor...

    First, how'd I get here:

I recently picked up some 9 spoke cast wheels (19" front-16" back) for a Sportster project. The front wheel has a larger mounting boss for the stock brake rotor (2.4") I purchased a new rotor from J&P with the "large" ID size... thinking it was sufficient... Well it wasn't. Sportster 11.5" OD rotors only go as large on the ID as 2.25".

The cast wheel is obviously not off a Sportster. Probably a Dyna, and judgin by the fact that J&P only offers 10" OD rotors with the 2.4" ID, the wheel originally had a dual disc setup...

So, question is: Can I have the ID of the mount hole on the rotor machined to fit the boss on the wheel or should I machine the boss on the wheel?

The bike is a '95 Sportster- 39mm fork tubes. The boss is aluminum and the brake rotor is stainless.

Another option is converting to dual discs, but I'd rather not spend the dough on that.

    Thanks.

I thought the 9 spokes was odd.

That's what you want to do.
