Other than S&S....are there any reputable companies out there making repop panhead motors? Looking to go shovel or pan leaning more to the pan if i can find reliability. thanks

Ask Dragstews what he'd get to build you a custom engine.

It's not as if racing hasn't sorted out what is tough and what works for Pans many years ago and you have plenty of vendor choice for cases, jugs, wheels etc.

My ideal Pan would be big inch, but very low static compression like they ran new (easy kicking and easy electric starting) and have a power band like a very large electric motor while being able to happily burn shit gas. I'd hang a modern sealed primary and five speed off it with a Denso starter and a Baker kicker kit if I had to have one.

There are "tin" (stamped steel) outer primaries for electric start Shovels you could use as examples and since you TIG you could use parts of whatever steel outer primary looked interesting and fab yourself a badass electric start steel outer with the starter bearing boss if you wanted. (Drill a steel plate with the cover hole pattern and you could bolt the whole thing down to keep it from warping. Also run whatever flange thickness you like.)

What about the Vulcan Engineering pan? Though I can't speak for it personally, it does seem comprised of quality components. And sexy? It's what I think about when I touch myself.
