Setting generator lash - FHP knuck cases
Trying to set the lash on a set of older FHP knuckle cases with a new cycle electric generator. I know s&s's cases had no adjustment, that the genny just sits in the cradle and that's it........but these have provisions for a strap....so I'm assuming I should have to shim/strap/tighten the thru bolts..... Issue is that I can't get the thru bolts to even come close if I set the lash to .002....just wondering if I should keep battling or if anybody has any insight. Using a 14t gear. Maybe try a 13t?

Might want to call Karl at Cycle-Ele and pow-wow with him about the OD size of the gen. case needing to be the same as the 32-E Gens...
Also about after/market gears....Last edited by Dragstews; 05-06-2015 at 8:51 AM.

Nothing very exciting.....I didn't have an OEM 13t to try and the aftermarket one I had didn't fit all that snug.....I did talk to cycle electric a few times (great people by the way)......also spoke to a few other older dudes about the issue..... I ended up just opening up the thru-holes (very slightly with a hone) and I pretty much set the genny in place by shimming and using the thru bolts instead of the strap. Was able to get barely .002.......The strap's there but it's not cranked down.....just snugged up......seems pretty good. Guess we'll have to see once it's fired up.

If you are going to run the A/M gear, used red locktight on the splines...
That will buy you some extra run time....
