    Project Phantom

    Hey guys,

So i bought this bike back in October 2014. i got it totally stock with a slew of extras from the Honda dealership. I've left it untouched and stock from then until this week. I know I've seen more than a few shadow chops and builds on here so I thank you guys in advance. I'm remarkably new at this customizing side of things but I just want to keep track of all the changes over time and answer any questions I can.

This is the bike back in October when I bought it. It came with some floor board pedals which were sure comfortable but heavy as all hell and ugly to boot. The bike also came with a sissy bar back rest which was only good for strapping bags to.

I recently joined a co-op here in Atlanta called Brother Moto. Mostly Cafe's, Trackers and Brats but a wealth of knowledge and help is being thrown my way. Those dudes are super rad and you should look at some of their builds because they're great.

My first order of business was to clean up the front end off this bike. Honda sends these bikes out with some hideous fork covers. Day 1 was spent removing those god awful aluminum covers and replacing them with some gaiter covers. The covers originally belonged to an BMW R90. I personally think they're a bit too large for the fork but I love the look so far. We also ditched that gnarly lollipop style turn signal. I'm going to keep signals in the back but ride with a single light up front. The handlebars were trimmed down by 3 inches on each side to narrow the body a bit (Thank you Phantom09 for the amazing guidance). I removed the front fender. Also ditched all of the "extras" the dealership threw in. I ditched the sissy bar until we can build out something worthy of rocking. I also ditched the platform style peg boards and put in some Biltwell Rocker pegs. Also, ditched the stock mirrors for a single slim profile mirror. Nothing groundbreaking but it really cleans up the front profile so much.

We'll be changing out the rear turn signals and brake light next. Afterwards we're changing out the tank and going from there. I hope you guys enjoy whatever it is I'm about to do here. If you have any advice to throw my way I'd love to hear it. If anyone knows some cheap exhaust alternatives I'd love to hear em. Thanks.

Updated turn signals on this guy today. Got some killer lights from lowbrow. Ordered new pullbacks for next week. Making painfully slow progress but we'll get there.

I thinking about to add rear turn signals on mine. The law keeps pulling me over for using hands at night.

Looks good tho, some progress is better than none.

So I just got back from the shop. Today we were taking measurements on mounting brackets and placement of the new tank. We started with just the tank and then slowly began removing more and more from the bike. Ultimately we've decided on cutting off the rear section and building a support strut under the existing seat. I was originally looking to turn this into a chop. Now I'm thinking with the existing geometry and bars an angry Tracker isn't such a bad idea.

Ultimately today was measurement and exploration. i'll be finishing the tank mount this weekend and building a seat strut next week. I'm really digging the future of this bike.

I've never seen a tracker phantom that would be bad ass though.

It'd be sweet to see a tracker/enduro bike. Some guys at kneeslider had some on their site a while back...

Seeing more stuff like that would be awesome!

I finally finished the paint on the tank and I'm pretty thrilled about it. Obciously some lines are shit but if you don't like it. I don't care. Its my bike. I'm happy with it. The tank goes on this Sunday.

Resurrecting this thread for my own benefit. Had a baby. Lost project time and money. You know the deal. Here's where she sits a year and some change later.

I just did a solid two days in the shop and she's finally taking shape.

Chopped up the stock exhaust and welded on some turn outs. Wrapped em up. Feeling good. Next up going to a solo seat with pillon seat. Moving the tail light up and chopping the rear fender.

Tuned the fuel processor to compensate for the changes. Rips down the street. Sounds like a monster.
