    Default What did i do?

    Play by play:

Bike sat for around 1 month (82 ironhead)

Poured gas from 3 different containers to fill tank half way (i know, but all the same type…)

Flooded carb and killed battery first try

Unscrewed float chamber and poured a little out (made sure float was… floating. i’ve fixed a lot of toilets.)

Hooked up jumpers to the van

Bike starts, backfires like hell, then idles for around 5 minutes

Turn the throttle a little (cause I’m an idiot)

    then

Motor starts going like the choke is on (it’s off)

Check the throttle cable incase it stuck (nope)

Freak out and turn off bike

    then

smoke from rear pipe for about a minute

What the fuck did I just do?

    Am I an idiot? (yes)

spray some carb cleaner around the intake manifold while engine is idling,
and pay attention to the Rpm's. If the R's go up, you probably have an air leak

A stuck float needle and/or too high of a float setting will flood. Maybe even run rich without overflowing.
I would suspect a clogged idle jet before i thought intake leak.
Problem with propane is it will find a leak anywhere and possibly a false positive by getting sucked in through the air cleaner. How do you know?
Make sure you did not contaminate your oil with fuel and/or wash down the rings.
Are you running month old gas?

It's not your problem ....yet. Never jump a bike from a car you'll blow out your regulator. Learned this the hard way years ago.

I would start with this as well. If the bike was sitting for only a month and was running fine beforehand, I would start with what has changed.

To answer your question, "what did I do?" ...you put gas in it and as you described from the bottoms of three different gas cans and now it magically runs like poop. Odds are, that's what you fed it (poop).

Drain the tank, drain the carb. Put in fresh gas and see what happens. If you still have a problem, then I'd go hunting for clogged jets or intake leaks.

    Default added constructive info

    this is highly debateable

jumping off a car battery is fine, trying to jump a bike like a car from a car is idiocy

also, was the tank clean when you dumped in gas? Things are probably just gummed up and has some rotten rubber parts. Just be patient and do things right

ethnol is fkn up lines, but with bike, atv marine carbs, crystalizin in the body is a big issue, new jets still runs like shit, ur local napa ,indie or marine serice shop have em ultrrasonically blean the carb, jap bikes strip em dowm leave em together...cheap, and better than dippin em

You can safely jump start a bike from a car - the only caveat is that the car cannot be running like when jumping another car. With the car off, hook up the cables and yer good to go. Easy peasy...
