Just curious being you haven't answered the question yet and three people have suggested (I'll be the fourth).
Did you prime the oil pump or not? You need to bleed the air out of it and prime it. Air trapped in the pump will prevent flow.Comment

Look where that front pipe runs.....
I wouldn't like working on that oil pump....!!!
Would be putting a diff. pipe on it till I got the problems worked out....Last edited by Dragstews; 03-23-2015, 9:11 PM.Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment

LOL I'm with you jesse..... That's like my FXS. You can't get to the pump without removing the exhaust....Comment

Based on his comment right below the pics, because they are the same cases and oil pump and he didn't have a Shovel diagram.
In any case, we're all still waiting... Was the pump primed and air bled out of the pump or not??
The service manual and all oil pump install instructions (like S&S) specifically call out "air lock" or "cavitation", in big bold letters with fireworks sounds in the background that you must do this any time an oil pump is removed/installed or oil lines removed/installed on the pump.Comment

Posted by Dragstews:
Could pressure bleed the air out of the tappets.....
That done by taking off the cap and spring off of the relief and with it running stick a rod down into the hole pushing hard down on the plunger.... Make sure that you take off any oil gauges or sending units ...
By doing this, the pump will be putting out about 400 psi...Comment

yeah i did what was stated before removed all the caps to everything and let gravity do its thing and nothingComment

Hey, not to bust your chops too hard but people are willing to help you here but you have to provide thorough details instead of us prying the information from you. I suppose your mechanic has it now and will figure it out but...
- did you just remove the caps or did you remove the springs/ball too?
- did you do this only after it was suggested or before you even posted here?
- with the caps off, did you try to turn it over?
- if gravity wasnt "doing it's thing" are you sure you have the oil lines properly connected on the oil tank/pump?
If the oil tank is mounted higher than the pump (which it is) and the oil lines are correct, oil should flow right down the feed line.
- did you disconnect the feed line from the pump to verify oil is flowing via gravity to the pump to begin with?Comment

I had the same problem with my new build.
To get oil flowing I went to CVS and bought a large syringe. I opened the lines to the rocker boxes and injected oil into them. I also injected oil into all the oil lines, both feed and return.
Worked a charm.
You won't be able to build enough pressure to get oil flowing by kicking it repeatedly.Comment
