    Softails

Ya, that definitely is a good depiction... Softails are an easily available base to start something creative. That bike is beautiful.

The bikernet article on his bikes(www.reedsridesdesign.com) tells the little details that no one would ever guess that you could do to a stock bike. Like moving the fender down and back 1" to sit lower to the tire. And that has got to be the best dash in production for a stock gauge that I have ever seen. Im hoping that he will sell one. No way I could dream up something that clean.

But Hey, Back the the real and ridden softails out there. KEEP POSTIN PICS GUYS THESE ARE GREAT.

          Here's one:
I got it as a "mo-co replica" that was wrecked, made out of a kraftech frame - crate motor etc etc. Stripped it down and used what I could. I have been meaning to "finish" it I guess but that was 4 years ago now Lots and lots of miles and any money a saved up just went to keeping it on the road or to run better.

I built this softie back in '99. I have the motor out of it right now, & I'm swappin
the wide ass 5 gal FB's to 3.5 gal FB's I have never liked the 5 gal. tanks on this bike, (look like shit)
but I have a feeling I am going to really miss all that fuel storage when I'm out in the remote deserts
(my favorite place to ride). I will no doubt need to strap on a couple of MSR bottles, But
the bike should look better with out the 16" wide tanks on it.
when I get the motor back in & the new tanks
I'll take a few snap shots, but here's one......

like them soft, and ride them hard?
              that just sounds weird.

              Revelator's looks tits.

              STS - softails suck.

Yeah I would have to agree on the tank situation. I don't like it either but I have a heavy wrist and love loud exhaust so I too need the extra fuel storage.

I do have two extra sportster tanks that I will probably sell. One has dent in the side and the other is 100% perfect shape. My step mom swapped it off her 05 883 low for the 883 custom tank because it held more gas. the first tank she dropped loading it on a trailer and it caught the handlebar of my dads bike.

                  Anyone interested?

this was a totally stock 99 softail standard. Many of the parts used you can get at chopper foundry.com
