    Harley Fork Identification

Bought this shovel a while back, thinking about shortening up the front end a little bit but need some help here.. I'm pretty new to Harleys but not to wrenching on stuff so I'm sure I can figure out how to do it but I need a little guidance.
Can I just buy shorter fork tubes? Do I need to get shorter springs for it? Also the forks are supposedly off a wide glide, but the guy I got it from couldn't tell me what year so how can I know what parts to buy? Sorry for all the newbie shit but I wanna get into it.

That looks to be the single disk Wide-Glide that came out in '84 and replaced the '80-'83 FXWG dual disk Wide-Glide. Post a photo of the brake caliper and rotor.

That's an 84 and up front end. You can shorten it "a little bit" with just the springs.

i lowered my shovel by having a machine shop cut the tubes and re-thread the cap, then cut the springs by an inch and a half, i dropped it 2 inches. Some will say dont cut the spring, but mine works fine

You mean they rethreaded the tubes?
