My Yamaha 650 Dragstar
Hey Guys
My name is Simon and I just joined this awesome forum. I love all bikes and currently ride a Yamaha 650. Figured I would start by introducing my bike.
I purchased the bike around 6 years ago. Second hand and from a dealer.
Over the years I have made more and more changes. She is currently in pieces again. I am re-wiring everything so nothing shows. But I will come back to that in another thread.
The main stuff that has been done so far.
- Straight pipes, no baffels
- Hypercharger and rejet
- Raked forks +4deg
- Extended forks + 6inches
- Raised Tank
- Removed speedo and dimpled the tank
- Solo seat
- Hardtailed (via strut)
- Relocated battery and electronics
- repaint, painted and wrapped pipes
- Headlight, and brakelight swapped out, indicators removed etc etc
Before I pulled her apart this winter she ended up looking like this.
Other than that I enjoy turing around Europe and Norway where I live.
I look forward to checking out more of the great bikes on this site.

Nice! How did you go about raising the tank?

Its quite easy actually. Grab a bit of pipe the same diameter as the inside of the front rubber mounds. Cut a length of the pipe a little shorter than the distance between the mounts on the tank. Poke the pipe through the bike so it rests against the under side of the backbone tubes. Throw some zip ties through the holes in the frame webbing (top of frame). Tighten and you are ready to go. I have always planned to finally weld it in place but been like that for 4 years now with no issues. I will post some pics. Just have to find them.
