    1957 First total engine build

I think I discovered why the PO was selling this engine.

Inside case where I believe Torringtons got loose, any suggestions on how to treat this area are greatly appreciated:

At first I thought I may have inadvertently done this during dis-assembly but looking at the flywheel I believe the motor to have been run. What do you guys think to have worn a groove like this:

At some point in it's past the case had been repaired but it looks to be holding up:

Someone has also blown out a couple of bolt holes so I'll be cleaning out ALL the bores and repairing the broken ones:

So that leaves me with the question on what to do with the flywheels. Do I check em out and run em, send them out for repair, or start looking for a new crank?

    Say......

When you was taking the motor apart, before the cases was spit .... Did you happen to see how well the rods was centered to the case bores....???
Take my 45 and outrun em all ..

I did although I don't know if the manner I did it in was the right way... From the side of the rod to the edge of the bore at it's widest I got:

      RF 1.402"
      LF 1.365"

      RR 1.373"
      LR 1.366"

I wish you were still in Vegas Dragstews I can't find anyone in this town that will touch this bottom end. Hence me screwing things up on my own...

Try Show Bike Steve, Dale Gains @ US Cycles or Caveman @ RSC
