    ShoveLong Bike Build

Picked up a shovel to chop, been wanting a long bike again ever since i got rid of the Ironhead digger. Not a whole lot to show yet, still in the design and gather stage, but will be making some moves soon.

76 motor. 4-1/2 stroke, big bore, mild cam. Will be getting a mag, not sure if i'm gonna pony up for a morris/burkhardt drive or if i'll hillbilly something together like i did for the triumph.

Plan is for 4-6" up stretch, 45 deg rake, plus 5 in the trees, and roughly 25+ rigid forks. Which should land me in this ballpark.

    Drawings of trees.

Shop somewhat cleaned up, will be working on the old frame jig rest of week. Doing a complete overhaul, making it rotisserie and adding a bunch of other little upgrades

Also been chipping away on some pegs. Found these guys in the "to be used later" pile, not sure what they are originally from, but i think they will be cool. Little grind & file action, built up the end with weld (still got a bit to go) to help keep feet from sliding off the end. Second pic shows a size comparison to std pegs.

This will be fun to watch develop. That red bike has a perfect stance, so this will be cool to see.

I want to see those trees. The plans look great.

      Nice work on the pegs.

Pegs look like old stock/horse trailer flip down side ladder stuff.

more peg work. Fully shaped (still gotta do some file cleanup work here and there). Drilled from bottom, 5/8 rod turned for interference fit, will be slugged inside peg and welded fast.

more jig work. Got the motor fixture plate about 3/4 done. Started working on some lower rail fixtures. Should have both completed tonight. Here are some pics of the full giddyup. Anyone recognize the index pivot?

Fuck, what a tough ass work/garage space. I have half of a two car garage, man you guys with big sheds make me jealous.

Good luck on the build, like your style.

i bet these rigid forks will have more travel than most conventional forks... There is a lot of flex once you get into this kind of rake and fork length

I rode a full rigid bike all summer. only because my forks were shit.. they'd compress and stay there.. so my first hard tail was actually full rigid..

more foot control stuff. Clutch side.

                            Start with a sketch

                            lay it out

                            fire up grandma

                            drill some holes

                            after some grinding

make a toe pedal (from same stuff footpegs came from

                            assembly, less pivot bushing
